VAN BUREN
CHARTER TOWNSHIP
"...a great place to live and a
prosperous place to do business"
Van Buren Township was created in 1835. It is largely a rural community
that boasts many year-round recreational opportunities, including the 101 acre Van Buren
Park, one of the finest 18-hole public golf courses in the region and the 1,200 acre Lower
Huron/Clinton Metropark. Belleville Lake, located in Van Buren Township, offers many more
recreational facilities.
Van Buren Township is part of the
tri-community area made up of Belleville, Sumpter Township and Van Buren Township. These
communities share a library and a museum that celebrates the area's history.
Van Buren Township has a population of
22,267. It is located close to I-94 and I-275, with easy access to Detroit Metro Airport.
It is also home to Willow Run Airport, which is one of the main freight-handling
facilities in the country.
