REDFORD CHARTER TOWNSHIP
"Becoming the Jewel of Michigan by Building a Better Tomorrow Today"

Redford Township was established in 1833, but much of its growth has been in the last fifty years when its proximity to Detroit made it popular as a residential area for people working in the automobile factories.

Redford Township is still a suburban community today. The township administration is very concerned with the needs of its people and provides an extensive seniors program, an ice arena, an 18-hole public golf course, a diverse leisure/recreation program along with the three school districts in the area and a continuing education program.

Redford Township has an active Housing and Community Development Department that provides resources for low income families looking for information or referrals to emergency assistance and assistance to homeowners with minor home repairs. It also provides - in cooperation with SMART - free bus service for Redford seniors.
