The City of Wayne was founded in 1836. For over 150 years, the history of Wayne has mirrored the history of transportation - from the stagecoach to the automobile. Transportation firms that are still based in the city of Wayne include Ford Motor Company, Gotfredson Truck Co. and the Gar Wood Co.

Wayne has a population of over 20,000 people and provides attractive neighborhoods, responsive community services, numerous local parks and special recreational programs for the whole family. Over 6,000 people use the state of the art community center every week.

Wayne offers an attractive suburban atmosphere that is supported by a wide choice of affordable housing, paved walks, well maintained roads and lighted streets.
