CITY OF LIVONIA
"People come first in Livonia"

Although Livonia has had the same boundaries since 1835, it was officially voted upon to become a city by the residents of the township in 1950.  The City of Livonia provides quality services at the lowest tax rate of any city in Wayne County and is the largest city in Western Wayne County.

Livonia's population is nearly 100,000 people.  The city's motto is "People come first in Livonia," and the family-oriented theme is evident in many aspects.  The community has been recognized as one the nation's safest communities and one of the best places to raise children.  We offer three public golf courses, a state-of-the-art Community Recreation Center, 46 municipal parks, 22 playgrounds, two ice arenas and three libraries.  Livonia features several vibrant shopping sites, including Laurel Park Place Mall and Wonderland Village.  The city also takes pride in Greenmead Historical Village, a 95-acre park that is home to many of Livonia's original buildings from the 1850s.

Livonia boasts an unsurpassed location, with I-96, I-275 and M-14 bisecting the city and providing convenience and access to Detroit, Ann Arbor and Detroit Metro Airport, which are all located within 20 minutes of Livonia.

Livonia has become a hub of higher education, with two quality institutions based here -Schoolcraft College and Madonna University - and satellite campus locations for five other universities also located in the city.  Additionally, Livonia is the home of two award-winning public school systems, Livonia Public Schools and the Clarenceville School District, and several private schools, which provide a quality education to students.
