CITY OF INKSTER The City of Inkster was incorporated in 1964. Inkster's land area is 6.28 square miles and is located in Central Wayne County Michigan. The City is considered a first tier suburban city of Detroit, while retaining and expanding the Michigan Avenue business district. This district is recognized as one of America's premier Heritage Routes and is located through the center of the City. The City has distinguished research and development companies, such as Livernois Vehicle Development and Info Tech, as well as many other light industrial and commercial developments. Inkster is concentrated along Michigan (US-12) between Beech Daly Road to the east, Henry Ruff Road to the west, Cherry Hill to the north and Annapolis to the south. The City of Inkster is conveniently located in Southeast Michigan with access to nearby Interstates 94 and 275, Southfield Freeway (m-39) and Telegraph Road (US-24). Additionally, Conrail Railroad Lines are parallel to Michigan Avenue to the south and the Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport is only a 9 minute drive (6 miles) to the south of the City., The Inkster community is endowed with five civic-minded, socially-conscious leadership as evidenced by numerous community boards and commissions.
