The Conference functions as the Emergency Telephone District for the member community’s Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPS). Under the state of Michigan’s Public Act 29 of 1994, CWW communities receive emergency telephone operational charges that have been collected on their behalf by service suppliers and distributed to individual communities through the Conference of Western Wayne. The CWW distributes the operational charges received from the service suppliers.
As mandated by P.A. 29, the operational charges are 4% of the highest monthly flat rate charges by a service supplier for a one party access line within the wireline 911 service district. The CWW operational charge is $0.80 per single access line.
